In ancient times, the Silk Road was China's link with central Asia and Europe. We retrace this epic route, unveiling the mystery and excitement of this legendary journey as we travel through desolate mountains and deserts, through bustling bazaars and crumbling mud-brick towns, ancient ruins and historical grottoes.

Day 1 Fly Australia – Chengdu
Board Cathay Pacific Airways flight to Chengdu via Hong Kong. Upon your arrival, you will be met & transferred to your hotel. Stay at the Dynasty Hotel for the next two nights.

Day 2 Chengdu
Enjoy a delightful morning to explore the Panda Breeding Centre; this afternoon we travel to Du-jiangyan, where you will visit the amazing ancient irrigation system built more than 2,000 years ago. (B/L/-)

Day 3 Fly Chengdu – Urumqi
Take the morning flight to Urumqi, the capital of Ugar Autonomous Region. Upon arrival you will be met & transferred to your hotel. Stay overnight at Urumqi Hoi Tak Hotel. (B)

Day 4 Urumqi
Take the day excursion to cruise on the Heavenly Lake, explore the breathtaking sceneries of the mountain ranges. Tonight taste the Ugar local flavor dinner. (B/L/D)

Day 5 Urumqi – Turpan
Browse through the Provincial History Museum, where display more than 1,000 historical artisans discovered on the Silk Road. Then drive to Turpan, an oasis city in the Gobi Desert. Next explore the ruins of Jiaohe Ancient City, appreciate the stunning view of the snow mountain ranges in the distance. Tonight enjoy the traditional cultural show. Overnight at Turpan Tuha Mansion. Day 6 Turpan – Dunhuang
This morning explore the ancient irrigation system, and the flaming mountains. Next visit the grape valley, and taste the local fruit at a local family. Later tonight we board the Oriental Ex-press train and head to Dunhuang. Stay overnight on board the Orient Express. (B/L/D)

Day 7 Dunhuang
After breakfast relax yourself on board until we get off at Dunhuang, an important historical city. Next we visit the World Cultural Heritage, Mogao Grottoes, one of the most significant cultural discoveries in the 20th Century. Wander through the bustling local night markets before we check in our hotel. Stay overnight at Dunhuang Hotel. (B/L/D)

Day 8 Dunhuang – Jiayuguan

This morning tour the Sand Dunes,experience the camel ride in the Gobi Desert. After lunch we get on board the Orient Express Train heading to Jiayuguan and then check in Holiday Inn Hotel for one night. (B/L/D)

Day 9 Jiayuguan – Lanzhou

This morning we start at the western end of the Great Wall, visit the ancient Hanging Great Wall. Later tonight we get on board the Orient Express and head to Lanzhou. Stay overnight on the Orient Express. (B/L/D)

Day 10 Lanzhou – Xian
After breakfast our train arrives at Lanzhou City, where we will spend our day to explore the city's highlights such as the Yellow River Bridge, tasting the handmade local noodles. After dinner we board the Orient Express for our next stop. Stay overnight on the Orient Express. (B/L/D)

Day 11 Xian
After breakfast our train stops at Xian, China's most important ancient captial. Next, climb the Ancient City Wall and have a stroll. Tonight enjoy the Tang Dynasty dinner and show. Stay at Shangri-la Hotel for one night. (B/L/D)

Day 12 Xian – Luoyang
Today's highlight is the Terracotta Warriors, one of the greatest historical discoveries in the world. This afternoon stroll in the picturesque Hot Spring Park. Later tonight our train departs for Luoyang. Stay overnight on the Orient Express. (B/L/D)

Day 13 Luoyang – Beijing
After early arrival at Luoyang, the City of Peony, we start to tour Luoyang Peony Garden. After tasting the vegetarian lunch, we explore the Shaolin Temples, the cradle of Chinese martial arts. Later tonight we board on the Orient Express for Beijing. Stay overnight on the Orient Express. (B/L/D)

Day 14 Beijing
Upon morning arrival at the capital of China, we farewell the Orient Express and start touring the Forbidden City, the imperial residence for the Qin and Ming emperors. After a tasteful Peking duck lunch, we ride the pedi-cab to explore the local historical Hutongs. Later check in New Yunan Crowne Plaza Hotel for the next two nights. (B/L/D)

Day 15 Beijing
Today enjoy the exciting excursion to Mutianyu Great Wall, one of the seventh manmade won-ders in the world. Take the cable car to the top of the wall and enjoy the panoramic views of the mountain ranges. (B/L/-)

Day 16 Beijing

Free at leisure until transfer to the airport for flight home. (B)
