Daily Itinerary
Day 1 Fri: Australia - Beijing
Depart Australia to Beijing; upon your arrival at Beijing International Airport, you will be met & transferred to Regent Wangfujing Hotel or similar for three nights.
Day 2 Sat: Beijing
Start your tour at Tiananmen Square, the biggest public square in the world; explore the Forbidden City once the largest imperial palace; stroll around the Summer Palace, a typical imperial garden and cruise on the shimmering waters of Kunming Lake. Tonight enjoy a Peking duck dinner. (B/L/-)
Day 3 Sun: Beijing
After a visit to Beijing 2008 Olympic Center including the iconic Bird’s Nest and Water Cube,
it is time to realize your dream of climbing the Great Wall, one of the seven manmade wonders of the world; afternoon walk through the Sacred Way of Animals statues before exploring the Ming Dynasty Imperial Tomb; tonight relax and enjoy a local cultural show.. (B/L/-)
Day 4 Mon: Fly Beijing - Xian
In the morning visit the Temple of Heaven, a unique & ancient temple used to worship the heaven for better harvests; watch a 3D film at Beijing City Planning Exhibition; take an afternoon flight to Xian, one of the ancient Chinese capitals; rest of day explore the Wild Goose Pagoda, which is considered the symbol of Xian; enjoy a dumpling banquet tonight. Stay at Sofitel Hotel for two nights. (B/L/D)
Day 5 Tue: Xian
A full day excursion to explore one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in the 20th century, the Terracotta Warriors and the Bronze Chariot of the first emperor of China; watch the Circle Vision Movie about the emperor; on the way back to the city visit the ancient City Wall; tonight enjoy the Tang Dynasty Show. Day 6 Wed: Fly Xian – Nanjing
Fly to Nanjing, once the capital city for six ancient dynasties; climb Yuejiang Tower to view the mighty Yangtze River and surrounding landscape; mingle with the crowds at Confucius Temple to experience the imperial lifestyle; tonight enjoy a cruise on the lavish Qinghuai River. Stay at Sheraton Hotel for one night. (B/L/D)
Day 7 Thu: Nanning – Zhenjiang – Yangzhou
In the morning visit the unique stone sculptures at Nanjing Museum and then we drive to Zhenjiang located on the junction hub of Grand Canal and Yangtze River; visit the famous legendary Golden Mount Temple; stroll along the ancient marina with it’s temples and former British Consulate; drive across the second longest bridge on the Yangtze River to Yanhzgou. Stay at Yangzhou Guest House for two nights. (B/L/D)
Day 8 Fri: Yangzhou
Visit the Slender West Lake renowned for its natural beauty; see the Daming Temple & Xisha Pagoda, both Tang Dynasty buildings; explore the Marco Polo Museum. (B/L/D)
Day 9 Sat: Yangzhou – Nantong
This morning we drive to visit the Yangtze River Water Control System and the Shuihui Garden in Rugao County; in the afternoon we proceed to Nantong City and visit the Museum of Textile and Abacus; tonight enjoy a cruise along the illuminated canal; stay at Yunfeng Garden Hotel. (B/L/D)
Day 10 Sun: Nantong – Suzhou
After a short drive, we arrive at Suzhou, nicknamed the ‘Oriental Venice’. We explore the Fishman Net Master Garden and visit the Silk Reeling Factory; stay at Wu Palace Sheraton Hotel for two nights. (B/L/D)
Day 11 Mon: Suzhou
Suzhou is renowned for its classic Chinese gardens. This morning we will explore the Humble Administrator’s Garden and take a cruise along on the canal among the ancient alleys to the picturesque Hanshan Temple. (B/L/D)
Day 12 Tue: Suzhou – Shanghai
Today leave Suzhou for Shanghai, China’s most populated city. We explore the old Chinatown and the classic Yu Garden, which was built 400 years ago. In the afternoon stroll along the busy Bund and visit Xintiandi, an area of restored Sikumen Houses. Tonight enjoy an Acrobatic Show; stay at Skyway Pullman Hotel. (B/L/-)
Day 13 Wed: Shanghai
Full day to explore World Expo 10, which covers an area of 5.6 square kms with 27 master halls including the Australian Pavilion to showcase to the world the full potential of urban life in the 21st Century. Shanghai Expo officially starts from 1 May to 31 Oct 2010.
If your stay in Shanghai is not within the Expo period, a day excursion to the ancient water town Zhujiajiao will be arranged. (B/L/-)
Day 14 Thu: Fly Shanghai – Australia
Transfer to the airport for flight home. (B)
