Daily Itinerary
Day 1 Fri: Australia – Shanghai
Depart Australia for Shanghai; upon arrival at Pudong International Airport you will be met & transferred to the Galaxy Hotel for two nights.
Day 2 Sat: Shanghai
Shanghai, originally a sleepy fishing town, now is China’s most amazing cosmopolitan & populous city, regarded as the citadel of China’s modern economy. Start your tour in the old Chinatown followed by Yu Garden, a classical Chinese garden with 30 pavilions linked by a maze of corridors and bridges over a pond; in the afternoon visit the Shanghai Museum & stroll on the People’s Square; this evening enjoy the astonishing Shanghai Acrobatic Show. Day 3 Sun: Fly Shanghai – Zhengzhou
Explore the Jade Buddha Temple and stroll on Nanjing Road; fly to Zhengzhou the capital city of Henan Province, visit the Provincial Museum to see impressive collections from the ancient Shang & Zhou Dynasties; stay at Grand Asia Hotel for one night (B/L/D)
Day 4 Mon: Shaolin Temple
We drive to Shaolin Temple, the cradle of Chinese martial arts; watch the monks perform the martial arts and explore the Forest of Pagodas. After a tasty vegetarian lunch in the temple we drive to see China’s oldest surviving observatory; stay at Huayang International Hotel for two nights. (B/L/D)
Day 5 Tue: Luoyang
Today’s highlight is the Longmen Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site containing more than 100,000 images and statues of Buddha that were carved into the cliffs during 400-600AD. (B/L/D)
Day 6 Wed: Luoyang – Xian by train
After a 5-hour train journey we arrive in Xian, one of the most important ancient capitals in China; this afternoon we visit the Provincial Museum; stay at Aurum International Hotel for two nights. (B/L/D)
Day 7 Thu: Xian
A full day excursion to explore the Terracotta Warriors and the Bronze Chariot of the first emperor of China, one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in the 20th century; watch the Circle Vision movie about the emperor; on the way back to the city visit the Ceramics & Pottery Centre; tonight taste the famous dumpling dinner and enjoy the Tang Dynasty Show. Day 8 Fri: Fly Xian – Beijing
Fly to Beijing; this afternoon explore the Summer Palace, a UNESCO site and the largest imperial garden; enjoy a cruise on the shimmering Kunming Lake before checking in to Days Hotel & Suites for three nights; this evening watch a local cultural show. (B/L/D)
Day 9 Sat: Beijing
Start your tour at Tiananmen Square, the biggest public square in the world; explore the Forbidden City, once the largest imperial palace; stroll around the Temple of Heaven, a unique & ancient building also named the Imperial Prayer Hall for Harvest; have fun at the Echo Wall; take photos of local people demonstrating Taiqi; enjoy the picture stop at the Panda Zoo to see the Giant Pandas. Day 10 Sun: Beijing
After a visit to Beijing 2008 Olympic Centre including the iconic Bird’s Nest and Water Cube, it is time to realize your dream of climbing the Great Wall, one of the seven manmade wonders of the world; this afternoon walk through the Sacred Way of Animals Statutes before exploring the Ming Dynasty Imperial Tomb; tonight enjoy a Peking duck dinner. Day 11 Mon: Fly Beijing – Australia
Free at leisure until you will be transferred to the airport for flight home. (B)
