Daily Itinerary
Day 1 Tue: Australia - Beijing
Depart Australia to Beijing. Upon arrival you will be met and being transferred to Days Hotel & Suites for one night.
Day 2 Wed: Fly Beijing – Urumqi
You will take the morning flight to Urumqi. Upon arrival your guide will greet you and drive to Nan Shan Grasslands, where you will visit the minority families of Kazakstan, Uzbekistan and chat with them in their yurts while tasting their strong milk tea and homemade snacks. Stay at Hoi Tak Hotel for two nights. (B/L/D)
Day 3 Thu: Urumqi
Today you will visit the Heavenly Lake. With an elevation of 2600 meters and flanked by rugged pines and cypresses this beautiful lake reflects the surrounding snow-capped mountains in it’s clear waters. The Heavenly Mountain-Peak of Boghanar (at an elevation of 5446 meters) overlooks the lake and is considered by the Turks in Mid-Asia as the ‘holy mountain’. Cruise on the lake and enjoy a golf cart around it before returning back to the city where we will visit the Provincial Museum and its incredible 2,000-year-old mummies. (B/L/D)
Day 4 Fri: Urumqi - Turpan
Today we travel to Turpan, a Uighur town set in a large oasis surrounded by desert and dry mountains. Upon arrival you will visit the mysterious Jiaohe Ruins, a former military stronghold and frontal barrier in the West for 1600 years, it still reveals traces of a prosperous and ancient trading centre. And then you will also visit the Ancient Karez underground water supply & irrigation system and its museum. Turpan is famous throughout China for its big and sweet grapes and gourds; while visiting the grape valley and you will taste the local fruits. Stay at the Oasis Hotel for one night. (B/L/D)
Day 5 Sat: Fly Urumqi - Kashgar
After a morning tour to the Sugong Pagoda, the Flaming Mountains & Bezelik Thousand Buddha Grottoes, we travel to Urumqi for the late evening flight to Kashgar. Upon arrival your guide will meet you & transfer you to Qinibagh Hotel for one night. (B/L/D)
Day 6 Sun: Fly Kashgar - Urumqi
After a visit to see Muslim worshippers at Sunday Prayer, the rest of the day is free to explore the bustling Sunday Bazaar, which is the largest out-door market in the Mid-Asia. After dinner transfer to the airport for flight to Urumqi; stay overnight at Hoi Tak Hotel. (B/L/D)
Day 7 Mon: Fly Urumqi – Dunhuang
This morning you will be transferred to the airport for the flight to Dunhuang. The rest of the day will be spent exploring one of the greatest world heritages sites – the Mogao Grottoes. One of the world’s most important sites for Buddhist Culture, the grottoes are also known as caves of the Thousand Buddha and preserve nearly a thousand years of Buddhist cave-temple architecture, clay sculpture, mural paintings and manuscripts all dating from the 5th to 14th centuries. Stay at the Dunhuang Hotel VIP Building for two nights. (B/L/D)
Day 8 Tue: Dunhuang
We drive two hours west across the deserts to the Jade Gate Pass, which was the western terminal of the Great Wall, built 2,100 years ago; in the afternoon we visit the Crescent Moon Spring & Sand Dune with a camel ride to watch the sunset over the desert. (B/L/D)
Day 9 Wed: Fly Dunhuang - Xian
Fly to Xian, one of the most important ancient capitals of China. Rest of the day visit to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda will be arranged. Stay at Aurum International Hotel for two nights. (B/L/D)
Day 10 Thu: Xian
Marvel at one of the greatest Archaeological discoveries, the Terracotta Warriors & Bronze Chariot Of the first emperor of China; explore the Provincial Museum; tonight taste the dumpling dinner and enjoy the Tang Dynasty Show. (B/L/D)
Day 11 Fri: Fly Xian - Shanghai
Fly to Shanghai, after arrival you are free at leisure to explore. Stay at Galaxy Hotel for two nights. (B/-/-)
Day 12 Sat: Shanghai
Today’s highlights include the busy Bund, the Yu Garden, fascinating old Chinatown and the fine Shanghai Museum. An astonishing Shanghai Acrobatic Show will be arranged to entertain you tonight. (B/L/D)
Day 13 Sun: Shanghai - Australia
Transfer to the airport for departure flight home. (B)
Day 14 Sat: Arrive Australia
