Daily Itinerary
Day 1 Wed: Fly Australia – Shanghai
Depart Australia to Shanghai; upon your arrival at Pudong International Airport, you will be met & transferred to Galaxy Hotel or similar for three nights.
Day 2 Thu: Shanghai
Shanghai, originally a sleepy fishing town, now is China’s most amazing cosmopolitan & populous city, regarded as the citadel of China’s modern economy. Start your tour in the old Chinatown followed by Yu Garden, a classical Chinese garden with 30 pavilions linked by a maze of corridors and bridges over a pond; in the afternoon visit the Shanghai Museum & stroll on the People’s Square; this evening enjoy an astonishing Shanghai Acrobatic Show. Day 3 Fri: Shanghai
Full day to explore Shanghai World Expo 10, which covers an area of 5.6 square kms with 27 master halls including the Australian Pavilion to showcase to the world the full potential of urban life in the 21st Century. Shanghai World Expo officially starts from 1 May to 31 Oct 2010.
If your stay in Shanghai is not within the Expo period, a day excursion to the ancient water town Zhujiajiao will be arranged. (B/L/-)
Day 4 Sat: Fly Shanghai - Yichang
Fly to Yichang, upon arrival conduct a short city tour before boarding the Yangtze Cruise Ship MV ‘Splendid China’ for the four night upstream Yangtze River cruise. (B/L/D)
Day 5/6/7 Sun Mon Tue: Yangtze Cruise
Cruise along the Yangtze River, ranked as the third longest river in the world; view the spectacular beauty of the Three Gorges; explore the local ethnic villages; discover the mystery of Shennong Stream and Lesser Three Gorges; enjoy the entertainment on board; a special visit to the Three Gorges Dam, the largest water project in the world. Day 8 Wed: Fly Chongqing – Xian
After disembarkation you will have a chance to visit Chongqing, one of the most industrialized cities in China before taking the afternoon flight to Xian; stay at Aurum International Hotel for two nights. (B/L/D)
Day 9 Thu: Xian
A full day excursion to explore Terracotta Warriors and the Bronze Chariot of the first emperor of China, one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in the 20th century; watch the Circle Vision Movie about the emperor; on the way back to the city visit a Ceramics & Pottery Centre; afternoon visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda which used to be a holy place for Buddhism pilgrimages; tonight taste the famous dumpling dinner and enjoy the Tang Dynasty Show. Day 10 Fri: Fly Xian – Beijing
Fly to Beijing; in afternoon explore the Summer Palace (the largest imperial garden and well-known UNESCO site) and take an enjoyable cruise on Kunming Lake; tonight watch a local cultural show. (B/L/D)
Day 11 Sat: Beijing
Start your tour at Tiananmen Square, the biggest public square in the world; explore the Forbidden City once the largest imperial palace; stroll around the Temple of Heaven, a unique & ancient building also named the Imperial Prayer Hall for Harvest; have fun at the Echo Wall; take photos of local people demonstrating Taiqi; enjoy a picture stop at the Beijing Zoo to see the giant pandas. Day 12 Sun: Beijing
After visit Beijing 2008 Olympic Centre including the iconic Bird’s Nest and Water Cube, it is time to realize your dream of climbing the Great Wall, one of the seven manmade wonders in the world; in the afternoon walk through the Sacred Way of Animals statues before exploring the Ming Dynasty Imperial Tomb; tonight taste a traditional Peking duck dinner. Day 13 Mon: Fly Beijing – Australia
Free at leisure until you will be transferred to the airport for flight home. (B)
Day 14 Tue: Arrive Australia
